Quorum sensing Technology
Quorum sensing is a real biological process that bacteria use to communicate with one another. They release and detect small signaling molecules ("autoinducers") that let them sense how many bacteria are nearby. When enough of these signals accumulate, bacteria can collectively change their behavior. For example, by forming biofilms, producing antimicrobial compounds, or altering virulence. This phenomenon is well established in microbiology.
SIV Microbiome Balancing Serum contains spore-forming Bacillus bacteria that activate when they come into contact with your skin. These spores communicate with your skin microbiome through quorum sensing to encourage beneficial bacteria while discouraging overgrowth of microbes associated with an imbalanced microbiome. In simpler terms:
Your skin naturally contains billions of bacteria, fungi, and other microbes.
If certain species become overly abundant, the microbiome can become imbalanced (sometimes called dysbiosis), which has been associated with conditions like acne, eczema, and rosacea.
Bacillus spores interact with this microbial community and, through natural bacterial communication mechanisms, help shift the community toward a healthier balance rather than simply killing bacteria indiscriminately.
